Founded by brothers Leon, Robert and Alfred Harvey in the early 1940s, Harvey Comics was a fairly small, but somewhat popular, comic book publisher. Their best known characters were Casper the Friendly Ghost, Richie Rich, Baby Huey, Little Lotta, Little Dot, Little Audrey, Wendy the Good Little Witch, the Green Hornet, and the Black Cat. Casper the friendly ghost first appeared in an animated short in 1945. More animated shorts followed through the 1950's and in 1963 Casper became the star of his own TV series. Casper comics were published regularly until 1982, and sporadically since. A live action Casper the friendly ghost movie was produced in 1995.
